In this video I wanted to help answer a common question: Can HIV be passed via skin contact?
Short Answer: No if the skin does not have any cuts or sores
Long Answer: For HIV to be able to get into the body it would need to be able to enter via broken skin. Most likely would be a fresh cut or wound and for a bodily fluid such a blood, vaginal secretions or semen to get into that wound.
If your skin is not broken then you are going to be fine even if a body fluid got into contact with your skin. Simply wash the area with warm soapy water and you are going to be good.
Of course if you have any worries or concerns, please see your doctor. If you are in Melbourne I am happy to help you can book an appointment on this page:
