Today I wanted to answer the question of if a person had a weak immune system would 90 days be enough for feel a rapid HIV test was accurate.
For people with a healthy immune system signs of HIV infection can be detected as early as 14 days using the rapid test.
More sophisticated HIV testing can detect HIV even earlier.
For a person, even with a compromised immune system, 90 days is more than plenty of time to show infection with HIV.
If you are worried or concerned be sure to talk with your doctor about what other tests you may wish to get done. These may include HIV viral load and some other laboratory testing that is not covered in the rapid test.
Today however I wanted to reassure that the window period of 90 days is chosen as it accommodates everyone, no matter the strength of their immune system.
